I am a professor in the Department of Nursing at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where I have been teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and master's degrees since 2010, the year in which nursing studies were incorporated into this university. Prior to this year, and since 1989, I combined my main care work at the Vall d'Hebron hospital with teaching at the Vall d'Hebron University School. During this time, apart from clinical and teaching learning, I started in research through the training received and self-taught. In 2001 I graduated in Social and Cultural Anthropology (UAB), which allowed me to have access to doctoral studies that was not possible with the nursing training of that time. Later, with the adaptation of the degrees to the European Higher Education Area, I was able to obtain a doctorate in nursing at the University of Barcelona, defending my thesis entitled: Professional nursing identity: construction and development in students during university education.
My current teaching activity is basically focused on the Nursing degree, where I am responsible for different subjects and tutor for Final Degree Projects (TFG). I also collaborate in different postgraduate and master's degrees either as a teacher or as director of Final Master's Projects (TFM). An example of them are the Master's Degree in Surgical Nursing at the UAB, the Master's Degree in Neonatal and Pediatric Nursing Intensive Care at the UAB and the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Research and Innovation in Nursing Care. On the other hand, I am coordinator of the 4th year of the Nursing Degree and since 2005 I have also directed the Master's and Postgraduate Degree in Surgical Nursing at the same university.
Regarding the research activity, I have a section of research recognized by the AQU (2020). Since 2020 I have been a member of the GREMSAS Multidisciplinary Research Group in Health and Society, a consolidated group recognized by the Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR)2021 SGR 01484, and before emerging group 2017 SGR 00917. Previously, I belonged to the AFIN Research Group ( 2014-2020), interdisciplinary and interuniversity group of basic and applied research in social, human and health sciences recognized in 2014 by the AGAUR as an Emerging Research Group (2014SGR1149) and in 2017 as a Consolidated Research Group (2017SGR1791).
Regarding my participation in funded projects, they are: 1) Project funded by the General Nursing Council of Spain entitled Family presence during invasive procedures in pediatrics: perceptions, attitudes and practices of nurses (2022-2024). 2) Project financed by the Official College of Nurses and Nurses of Barcelona entitled Qualitative Evaluation of the young sex website (2018-2021). 3) Project financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness entitled Disciplinary knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and situated learning in higher education (2016-2019). 4) RecerCaixa Project entitled: Men Caregivers: Challenges and Opportunities to Reduce Gender Inequalities and Address New Care Needs (2015-2017).
Among other projects to highlight, in this case not financed but linked to assistance and in collaboration with it, are: 1) vaccination coverage of pregnant women and attitudes towards the flu and whooping cough in pregnant women and midwives, in collaboration with the ASSIR (sexual and reproductive health care units) of primary care, 2) the Learning and Service (ApS) in the End of Degree Projects of the Degree in 'Nursing of the UAB that we carry out with agreement with the Vall d'Hebron hospital. I would like to highlight the commitment always made to strengthen the link between university and care professionals and, therefore, between both institutions.
